Doctor from Laurel killed in motorcycle crash | Local News

A Hattiesburg Clinic anesthesiologist and Laurel native died after crashing his motorcycle on Sunday night as he left church.
Dr. Darrell Burnham, 55, was transported to a local hospital with severe injuries and died soon after arrival after he crashed his motorcycle with a Kia Sedona at the intersection of Highway 98 and Barracuda Drive, Lt. Jon Traxler of the Hattiesburg Police Department told local news agencies.
Burnham founded the Hattiesburg Clinic Anesthesia Department in 1994 and worked there since. He traveled to Africa and Honduras for medical mission trips over the years. His colleagues described him as a generous man and a pillar for the foundation of medical care in the Pine Belt.
He is the son of the late James William Burnham and Lucile Burnham, who still lives in Laurel.
He and his wife Tracy McMahon Burnham of Hattiesburg have one daughter, Sarah Elizabeth, and two sons, Luke William and Andrew David, all of Hattiesburg.
His funeral was Wednesday at Temple Baptist Church in Hattiesburg followed by burial in Highland Cemetery.
